Ford Model T automobile

The Model T Ford, which first appeared in the fall of 1908, came to revolutionize travel more than any another unique invention.

Henry Ford founded Ford Motor Company in 1903, and the Model T Ford was not his first car on the road. But during the life of 19 years production of the Model T became the most famous car in Histroy, due to their fine workmanship, excellent materials, and especially its low price.

The first Ford Model T cars were produced in Detroit, Michigan, at the Piquette Avenue plant. the stated intention of Henry Ford was producing the first affordable car to the masses. Indeed, since its initial costing $ 850 in 1908, Ford introduced the assembly line mass production finally lowered the price to less than $ 300. In 1918, nearly half the cars on the roads in the United States Model T Ford.

The advent of assembly lines cut assembly time average about 12 hours by car about an hour and a half. The oft-repeated legend that Henry Ford Model T required that all be painted in black had a practical basis, in which the particular black paint on the use of drying much faster than others and therefore more rapid production. The use of interchangeable parts not only accelerated production, but reduced the cost of repairs later.

The typical five-passenger Model T sat, produced 20 horsepower in its engine 4 cylinder achieves a maximum speed of 45 mph, and ran on gasoline or ethanol. Fuel economy was 15 to 20 miles per gallon. Ethanol became illegal during Prohibition and gasoline became extremely cheap, so all the alcohol and battery-powered vehicles disappeared the scene.
The Model T is also known as the Flivver or the Tin Lizzie. The original open touring car was soon joined by several closed models, and finally, trucks small. The first designers including Childe Wills, the love of Harry, Eugene Farkas, Galamb Joseph, Gus Degner and Peter Martin.

Most Model T had only two forward gears and reverse. The model, however, never reached the same massive impact of its predecessor. More than 15 million Model T cars were built over time. This world record was not surpassed until 1972 by the Volkswagen Beetle.
